FAQs

What happens if I don’t pay the amount due?

Until the amount due is paid, you will be required to prepay for fuel at all participating petrol stations. We also reserve the right to take further action to recover the amount due, which may include commencing court proceedings.

Can I pay the amount due directly to the service station?

Once recovery action has begun the service station is unable to assist you or take payment of the amount due; all payments and correspondence must come through Fuel Recovery Services.

What if I cannot pay?

If you are having difficulty paying the amount due, please contact us and we will try to work out a payment plan.

How did you obtain my personal details?

We obtained your details in one of three ways:

  1. You provided your details to the service station (e.g. when you asked for an IOU).
  2. The owner of the vehicle nominated you as the person in charge of the vehicle at the time in question, and provided your details.
  3. The roads authority of the State in which your vehicle is registered identified you as the owner of the vehicle at the time in question, and provided your details.

Why do I have to prepay for my fuel?

At participating services stations, vehicle registration numbers are automatically scanned and checked against a database of vehicles that have been involved in drive-offs or failures to pay. If a match is found and there are still amounts owing in relation to your vehicle, you will be required to prepay for your fuel until the debts have been cleared.

How did you obtain my vehicle details?

Participating service stations collect data from photos taken of your car, video footage of drive-off incidents or unpaid IOUs. This data is then provided to Fuel Recovery Services.

Why am I charged a Fuel Recovery Fee?

By pumping the fuel into your vehicle, you entered into the fuel contract displayed on the fuel bowser. Under the fuel contract, you agreed to pay the service station a Fuel Recovery Fee. A copy of the contract displayed is located on our web site under Terms and Conditions

What if my vehicle registration number isn't recognisable?

If your vehicle registration number cannot be recognised, due to being bent, dirty, or otherwise damaged or obscured, you will automatically be required to prepay your fuel at participating service stations.
